The Elf Gingerbread House was created when I needed a quick and easy gingerbread house for a gingerbread party/fellowship at a local church. Most of the participants were very new at gingerbread house decorating, and many had never used a pastry bag!

The Cal Young Gingerbread House is inspired by the real house located at 1610 Cal Young Street, in Eugene, Oregon. While I liked the size and style of the house, I didn’t like the front porch. So I didn’t include it in the template.

A quick Google search will provide a plethora of recipes for Royal Icing, used to construct a Gingerbread House. They are all pretty much the same with small variations in amount of water, which will always be a variable from day to day anyway.
